Unforeseen strides in AI technology
A senior software engineer at Google, the company’s artificial intelligence (AI) development is threatened by the open-source community.
The engineer, Luke Sernau, reckons that independent researchers in open-source technology are making swift and unforeseen strides in AI technology.
In early April he published a document on an internal system, which was shared extensively among Google employees over the next few weeks. The document was finally leaked, and published by consulting firm SemiAnalysis and began to circulate in Silicon Valley.
Adapt or become obsolete
As artificial intelligence (AI) continues to advance, artists must decide whether to adapt to the technology or risk becoming obsolete. AI is already being used to create music, visual art, and even literature. While some artists see AI as a tool to enhance their creativity, others worry that it will replace human creativity altogether. However, experts argue that AI can never truly replace the unique perspective and emotional depth that human artists bring to their work. Ultimately, artists must find a way to integrate AI into their creative process while maintaining their own unique voice and vision.
TTD Law ⚖️
State of New York Attorney General Letitia James is proposing legislation that would force crypto firms to pay back customers who are victims of fraud.
The legislation would also prevent the creators of crypto assets from owning crypto platforms and stop firms from borrowing or lending investor assets.

$279 Million
The largest-ever whistleblower award issued by the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Gurbir Grewal, director of the SEC’s division of enforcement.
“The size of today’s award — the highest in our program’s history — not only incentivises whistleblowers to come forward with accurate information about potential securities law violations, but also reflects the tremendous success of our whistleblower program.”
SEC has got its A-game on. Watch out scammers.

TTD Ordinals
A pseudonymous Bitcoin and Lightning Network developer “Super Testnet” found a bug in the Ordinals program.
Ordinals allow text, images and code to be “inscribed” on a satoshi — the smallest denomination of bitcoin.
Each satoshi has a unique number between 0 and (eventually) 2,100 trillion, assigned in the order in which they are mined. While usually thought of as fungible, the Ordinals protocol makes them non-fungible, like an NFT.
Just as each satoshi is numbered, each Ordinals inscription has a number — there are more than 3.7 Million of them to date.
What did Super Testnet find?
A way to break inscription numbers, by inscribing a satoshi that he didn’t own. Then, just as he inadvertently riffed on the Bhagavad Gita, thinking it was an homage to the film Oppenheimer, he also asked rhetorically whether he had “broken” Ordinals.
The inscription No. 3492721 has 0 input and 0 output, but it can be programmed into the number.
The founder of Ordinals said that it can be solved by upgrading, but it will affect all programs after 3492721.
Super Testnet has also released guidelines and calls for the same attacks.
